The Town of Amherst announced on April 2 a full calendar of community events and celebrations scheduled throughout the month. Residents are invited to participate in a variety of activities as spring arrives following a snowy winter.

The town said the events are intended to foster connection among neighbors and provide opportunities for involvement in civic, cultural, and environmental initiatives. Activities range from cleanups and festivals to public meetings and educational programs.

Highlights from the schedule include a Veteran’s Breakfast, an Annual Egg Hunt at Mill River Recreation Area, an Amherst Global Village Festival, and the opening day of the Amherst Farmers Market. The town will also host public discussions such as an overview of residential solar in Massachusetts on April 8, a community meeting with Eversource about a transmission right-of-way project on April 14, and a Hazard Mitigation Plan Public Meeting on April 30.

Other notable events include Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Flag Raising Ceremony, Amherst Literary Walk, Cuppa’ Joe with Paul and Town Engineer Jason Skeels, Sustainability Festival, Rubbish Roundup: Amherst Community Cleanup, Decarbonizing the Campuses session, Amherst Arts Night Plus, as well as observance of Patriots’ Day when town offices will be closed.

The announcement encourages residents to join these activities “as we shake off winter and dive into all the activities happening around us.” The town has provided links for more details about each event.
