The Town of Belchertown Fire Department has received a $19,000 grant through the Massachusetts Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program for State Fiscal Year 2026, according to an announcement made on April 2.

The funding is intended to help the department acquire important safety equipment. The program is administered by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the Department of Fire Services.

A letter signed by Governor Maura T. Healey and Lt. Governor Kimberley Driscoll confirmed the award on March 31. Chief John Ingram was notified of the grant on that date.

This grant aims to support fire departments across Massachusetts in maintaining high standards of firefighter safety and service to their communities.

As local departments continue to address public safety needs, such funding helps ensure firefighters have access to necessary resources.
