Collin Catherwood of men’s track and field and Kassidy Morris of women’s lacrosse were named University of Massachusetts Student-Athletes of the Week, according to a March 31 announcement. The awards are presented by UMassFive College Credit Union.

The recognition highlights achievements in both men’s track and field and women’s lacrosse at UMass. Honorees will be celebrated at the UMass Sports Luncheon this week.

The luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1 at noon in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons. The cost to attend is $17, or $15.30 for UMass alumni.

Catherwood led the Minutemen in the 10K event, winning by more than 16 seconds with a time of 30:28.48. His performance ranks as best in the Mid-American Conference and places him 106th nationally.

Morris continued her strong season by scoring six goals during Saturday’s game against Robert Morris, contributing to an 18-6 win. She reached all six goals with nine minutes left in the third quarter, helping secure a decisive lead for her team. Her fifth goal broke Kate Ferris’ program record with a career total of 212 goals. This season, Morris has achieved hat tricks in eight out of ten games and scored thirteen goals over her last two contests.
