The University of Massachusetts announced on March 13 that three members of its men’s hockey team have been named to the Hockey East All-Star teams, with junior Michael Hrabal earning the title of Hockey East Goaltender of the Year. Hrabal was selected as a unanimous First Team All-Star, while junior forward Jack Musa and sophomore defenseman Larry Keenan were chosen for the Second Team.
This recognition marks a milestone for Hrabal, who is the first player from UMass to be named the league’s Goaltender of the Year. It is his third career All-Star selection after previous honors as a sophomore and freshman. During Hockey East play, Hrabal recorded a 12-5-1 record with four shutouts, maintaining a goals against average (GAA) of 1.55 and a .952 save percentage. He led all goaltenders in both GAA and save percentage, narrowly missing the league record in save percentage by .001.
Over the entire season, Hrabal has posted an 18-8-1 record with a 2.02 GAA and made 780 saves for a .935 save percentage across 27 games. Nationally, he ranks second in save percentage, seventh in GAA, and sixth in shutouts. He has also been recognized twice as National Goaltender of the Month and has received four weekly awards from Hockey East this season.
Jack Musa earned his first career All-Star honor after scoring ten goals and nine assists for nineteen points in twenty-two league games. Over thirty-two games this season, Musa is tied for fifth in league points with thirty-three on fifteen goals and eighteen assists. He holds a plus-twelve rating along with two power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and one game-winning goal.
Larry Keenan was named an All-Star for the first time after playing all twenty-four league games and contributing five goals and nine assists while helping UMass allow only fifty-three goals during conference play—the second-fewest among teams. For the full season, Keenan has played all thirty-four games with seven goals, eleven assists, a plus-seven rating, two power-play goals, one shorthanded goal, and forty-three blocked shots.
These achievements highlight individual excellence within UMass men’s hockey as well as strong team performance throughout the season.
