The University of Massachusetts men’s track and field team began its outdoor season at home on March 28, securing first place in nine events and achieving 18 top-three finishes at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
The event marked a strong start for the Minutemen as they dominated several competitions throughout the day. The team’s performance demonstrated depth across multiple disciplines, with podium sweeps and strong showings from both experienced athletes and newcomers.
In distance events, Collin Catherwood, Riley Cole, and Cyrus Hansen swept the top three spots in the men’s 10,000 meters. First-year athlete Archie Pinder won his debut outdoor race in the men’s 1,500 meters while fellow newcomer Logan Walsh finished second. Other highlights included Adithya Hari’s victory in the men’s 100-meter dash and Josh Exantus taking gold in the men’s 110-meter hurdles.
Field events also saw notable performances: Owen Stevens and Elijah Wolinski tied for first place in long jump, while Matthew Acquah secured a win in triple jump. In relays, Noah Mulligan, Chris Scalia, Corey Sanders, and Godot Gaskins combined to win gold in the men’s 4×400 meter relay.
Looking ahead, the Minutemen are scheduled to compete next at the UConn Dog Fight on April 4.
