Massachusetts men’s track sets three records at IC4L Championships

The University of Massachusetts men’s track and field team set three new program records at the IC4L Championships held in Boston on Sunday.

Godot Gaskins had a standout performance, setting two individual records. He broke the indoor program record in the 200-meter dash with a preliminary time of 21.28 seconds and finished fourth in the finals at 21.37 seconds. Gaskins also won gold in the 400-meter event, breaking another school record with a time of 47.33 seconds.

Collin Catherwood claimed first place in the men’s 3,000 meters, setting a new school record by finishing in 8:06.65.

In other events, Jason DeJesus finished fourth and Tyler Fortune fifth in the men’s 60-meter dash with times of 6.85 and 6.86 seconds respectively. Colin Kirn placed sixth in the men’s 800 meters with a time of 1:53.09, while Tyler Medeiros was seventh in the men’s 1,000 meters at 2:28.41.

Kailas Ciatto, Michael Sanchez, Colin Kirn, and Collin Catherwood teamed up to win gold in the distance medley relay (DMR) with a combined time of 9:49.78.

Other top finishers included Liam Ouellette taking sixth place in the men’s 5,000 meters (14:41.91), Elijah Wolinski finishing eighth in long jump (22’1.75″), Hunter Feitel placing sixth in pole vault (15’5″), Aiden Donovan earning seventh place in shot put (50’6.75″), and Matthew Acquah coming sixth in triple jump (47’5″).

The Minutewomen are scheduled to compete next at both the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston and the URI Coaches Invitational in Providence on Saturday, February 14.
