The Massachusetts women’s lacrosse team defeated Bryant University 23-7 on April 1, scoring 15 goals in the second half to extend an 8-4 halftime lead. Eight Minutewomen recorded multiple points, with Ava Connaughton and Kassidy Morris each contributing six points, and Dylan Lyons scoring five goals for the second consecutive game.

This victory marks the fifth straight win for Massachusetts, improving their record to 9-2. The match was played against Bryant, who entered as defending America East co-champion with a season record of 7-4 and a perfect conference standing.

Massachusetts has now scored at least 17 goals in each of its last five games while conceding only 17 total goals over the past four matches. The team’s offensive performance reached a season high with Wednesday’s result, surpassing the twenty-goal mark for the third time in four games. Morris finished with four goals and two assists, reaching a career total of 280 points—tied for third most in program history alongside Holly Turner. She has posted at least four goals and six points in each of her last five appearances.

Head coach Jana Drummond said: “We just started to play the UMass way. The first half was a slow start, a little bit too many turnovers. We were like let’s play the UMass way, let’s focus on us and let’s play together. I thought they did a great job coming out in the third quarter of executing that and implanting the changes we asked of them.” Norah Prizzi contributed three assists—a personal best—while Elizabeth Schafer scored twice for her second multi-goal game.

Defensively, Bayley Duffy made ten saves during key moments of play. Bridget Valentine led groundball efforts with five pickups along with three caused turnovers and two draw controls; Katie Onderdonk and Sienna Diglio each forced two turnovers as well. In draw controls, Katie Peterson achieved a career-high ten wins while Cate Marshall added nine.

Looking ahead, Massachusetts will continue its homestand by hosting Akron on Saturday at noon for a Mid-American Conference matchup featuring special events including Play With a Purpose and Canine Classic.
