The University of Massachusetts women’s swimming and diving team had 17 student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) Team, according to an April 2 announcement by the conference.

This recognition highlights the academic and athletic achievements of members of the UMass squad. The honor is awarded to student-athletes who maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and participate in at least half of their team’s scheduled contests. First-year students and transfer students in their first year are not eligible for this award.

The following athletes from UMass were named: Diya Ackerman-Vallala, Lexi Alexen, Lindsay Burbage, Beren Cakiroglu, Karinne Everly, Kendall Gilbert, Maria Grishaeva, Danielle Guerin, Salem Howes, Brynn Morris, Sahana Narayanan, Molly Nelson, Sophie Porter, Hannah Schoenauer, Shreeya Sinha, Courtney Tedesco and Khrystyna Yaremyn.

UMass ranked fourth among MAC teams for number of honorees. Miami (Ohio) led with 21 selections while Ball State and Buffalo each had 20.

The Academic All-MAC Team distinction is designed to recognize student-athletes who demonstrate excellence both in competition and in their academic pursuits.
