Kassidy Morris and Marisa Gatz of the Massachusetts women’s lacrosse team received Mid-American Conference (MAC) weekly awards, according to a March 31 announcement. The recognition follows the Minutewomen’s 18-6 victory at Robert Morris on Saturday.
The awards highlight individual performances that contributed to the team’s success this season. So far, UMass has earned nine MAC weekly honors, showing consistent achievements by its players.
Morris scored six goals in the game against Robert Morris, reaching all six by nine minutes left in the third quarter. With her fifth goal of the match, she broke Katie Ferris’ program record by scoring her 212th career goal. Morris now has a hat trick in eight out of ten games this season and has tallied 13 goals over her last two games.
Gatz recorded four groundballs and achieved a career-high three caused turnovers during Saturday’s contest. She played a key role in a defense that allowed only ten goals across three MAC games this season. The Minutewomen held Robert Morris scoreless for the final 27 minutes of play and gave up just one goal over nearly the last 38 minutes.
Looking ahead, Massachusetts will host Bryant on Wednesday at 3 p.m., marking Military Appreciation Day.
