The City of Northampton announced on Mar. 31 a series of events to celebrate the Week of the Young Child, taking place from April 10 to April 18, 2026, in Northampton and Hadley.

The initiative aims to recognize young children and show appreciation for early childhood teachers and all those involved in caring for children aged zero to six years old. The celebration includes activities designed to engage families and community members while highlighting the creativity and energy of young children.

From April 3 through April 18, displays featuring children’s art will be showcased in business windows throughout downtown Northampton and Florence. Organizers said these displays will run for two weeks as part of the festivities.

During the main event week from April 10 to April 18, a variety of activities are planned across local towns. These include art opportunities, shared nature walks, storytimes at libraries, and playtimes at various locations. A detailed list of events is available online for those interested in participating.

Organizers encourage community members to join in celebrating with others during this special week dedicated to early childhood development.
