Richard Neal, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 1st district, has been vocal on social media about various pressing issues. His recent tweets reflect his concerns about antisemitic violence, political actions affecting families and children, and threats to educational programs.
On June 2, 2025, Neal expressed his dismay over an incident in Boulder by stating that “The hate-fueled, antisemitic attack on a peaceful demonstration in Boulder is sickening. We must condemn this hatred, stand with our Jewish neighbors, and work to stop the spread of antisemitic violence in America.”
Later that day, Neal criticized Republican policies with a tweet claiming that “Republicans are not only turning their backs on working families, they’re turning their backs on our kids too.” The post suggests dissatisfaction with the current direction of Republican policies regarding family welfare.
On June 3, 2025, Neal highlighted the significance of Job Corps as he tweeted: “For 60 years, Job Corps has empowered millions of young adults with skills for in-demand careers. Now it’s under threat due to the reckless actions of the current Administration. At Westover Job Corps in Chicopee alone, 170+ staff and 350 students rely on it. We must fight these” This statement underscores his concern over potential cuts to a program crucial for workforce development.
Neal has served Massachusetts’ 1st district since replacing Edward Boland in 1989 after previously serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Worcester in 1949 and currently residing in Springfield at age 74, Neal graduated from American International College with a BA.
