Rep. Richard Neal, a long-serving U.S. Congressman representing Massachusetts’ 1st district, recently addressed several national and international issues through a series of posts on his social media account.
On October 13, 2025, Neal commented on the anniversary of the attack on Israel, expressing support for the return of hostages. He stated, “In the two years since the horrific attack on Israel, I have been steadfast in my calls for the return of all hostages. Needless to say, today is a good day. I join the Jewish community around the world in celebrating the reunification of surviving Israeli hostages with their”.
Later that same day, Neal marked Indigenous Peoples’ Day by acknowledging Native American communities and their historical significance. In his post, he wrote, “On this Indigenous Peoples’ Day, let us celebrate our Native communities and the enduring contributions they have made as America’s first peoples. As the original stewards of this land, we owe it to them to reflect on the painful history and recommit to protecting sacred lands.”
On October 15, 2025, Neal addressed rising health care premiums and urged bipartisan cooperation in Washington. He stated, “People are already feeling the sticker shock of their skyrocketing 2026 health care premiums. We’re here in Washington ready to do something about it, but Republicans need to be here too.”
Neal has represented Massachusetts’s 1st District in Congress since 1989, after succeeding Edward Boland. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Worcester in 1949 and currently residing in Springfield, Neal graduated from American International College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
