Rep. Richard Neal, U.S. Congressman representing Massachusetts’ 1st district since 1989, recently addressed a range of topics on his official Twitter account, including condemnation of racist behavior, public safety during extreme weather, and local pride in Super Bowl traditions.
On February 6, 2026, Neal posted a direct response to an unspecified incident, stating: “There’s no ambiguity here. This is vile and racist. The American people deserve better.”
The following day, February 7, 2026, Neal alerted constituents to severe winter conditions affecting the region: “With all of MA-01 under an Extreme Cold Warning, make sure you’re prepared for this weekend’s weather. If you or someone you know needs a warm place to go, dial 211 or visit https://t.co/Oaf3oDtGUV to find the closest available warming center. For extreme cold safety https://t.co/TiNe8CN3fb”
On February 8, 2026, Neal highlighted western Massachusetts’ connection to the Super Bowl through a local business: “As western Massachusetts tunes in to watch the @Patriots compete for their record seventh Lombardi Trophy, we do so with a little extra hometown pride. For more than 20 years, Holyoke’s own @HazenPaper has produced the one-of-a-kind covers for the stadium-edition Super Bowl”
Neal was born in Worcester in 1949 and currently resides in Springfield. He is an alumnus of American International College and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives before succeeding Edward Boland in Congress.
