Rep. Richard Neal, U.S. Congressman representing Massachusetts’ 1st district since 1989, posted a series of statements on his official Twitter account addressing health care, Social Security, and recent political developments.
On July 17, 2025, Neal shared a brief message following a meeting or event: “So great seeing you all! https://t.co/TBADdujRvS”.
The next day, July 18, he addressed concerns regarding the use of Social Security in political messaging. He wrote: “Social Security is a lifeline for tens of millions of Americans. Using it for misleading political messaging is reckless and undermines the trust the agency has built with the American people for nearly 90 years. I, along with @WaysMeansCmte, am correcting the record “.
Later that same day, Neal commented on Republican-led budget cuts to health care: “More hospitalizations + fewer doctors = unnecessary lives put at risk due to Republicans’ cuts. Billionaire tax breaks shouldn’t be funded on the backs of working people and their health care. https://t.co/dtBOSChrYO”.
Richard Neal has represented Massachusetts’s 1st District in Congress since succeeding Edward Boland in 1989 and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Worcester in 1949 and currently residing in Springfield at age 74, Neal holds a Bachelor of Arts from American International College.
