Rep. Richard Neal, who represents Massachusetts’ 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on social media between September 3 and September 5, 2025.
On September 3, Neal criticized the release of heavily redacted files related to Jeffrey Epstein, stating, “Survivors and the American people deserve the full truth. But last night’s heavily redacted files—97% of which we’ve seen before—fall well short. That is why I signed the discharge petition to force a House vote on legislation to release the Epstein files.”
The following day, Neal commented on state-level responses to misinformation, writing on September 4: “States should not have to protect themselves from conspiracy theories. I’m grateful to @MassGovernor Healey for putting the safety of the people of Massachusetts over politics. RFK Jr.’s pseudoscience has no place at the top of what should be the world’s model health system.”
On September 5, Neal addressed economic policy and employment data: “The difference nine months can make. These aren’t ‘rigged’ or ‘phony’ numbers. These are the facts. The fact is, when you invest in the American worker and the middle-class, you create good-paying jobs. When you invest in the billionaire class and pursue a reckless tariff”
Neal has served as a member of Congress since 1989 after replacing Edward Boland and previously held office in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Worcester in 1949 and currently residing in Springfield, he holds a BA from American International College.
