Rep. Richard Neal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 1st district since 1989, posted several statements on his social media account in early April 2026 addressing issues related to government spending priorities and economic policy.

On April 2, 2026, Neal criticized Republican fiscal policies by stating, “For Republicans, it’s always a blank check for endless wars—and pennies pinched from the health care that keeps you alive and the child care that helps you earn a living for your family.”

Later that day, he commented on recent economic challenges and attributed responsibility to former President Trump: “There are few times in history where we can so clearly trace so much economic calamity back to one day. But President Trump has made it easy for us.”

On April 3, 2026, Neal shared another post with the message: “My full statement: https://t.co/HeLTC5euE0”

Neal has served as a U.S. Representative since replacing Edward Boland in 1989 and previously held office in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Worcester in 1949 and currently residing in Springfield, Neal is an alumnus of American International College.
