Graduates earn 791 degrees, certificates from Smith College

About 17.7 percent of the 791 degrees and certificates handed out by Smith College in 2017-18 were to students in social sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Northampton conferred 140 bachelor's degrees in social sciences programs.

But the single most popular program was for a master's degree in social work. Data shows the school gave out 101 master's degrees in social work, followed by 61 bachelor's degrees in general political science and government and 48 bachelor's degrees in general engineering.

The college enrolled 2,903 students for 2017-18, including 2,502 in undergraduate programs and 401 in graduate programs.
