60 percent of applicants to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, 92 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 50 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Amherst enrolled 30,593 students in fall 2018, including 23,515 in undergraduate and 7,078 in graduate programs, data shows. 6.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

70 percent of undergraduates are residents of Massachusetts, and 19 percent are residents of other states. 10 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (62 percent) and Asian (10 percent).

The school admitted 60 percent of the 41,690 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 20 percent enrolled.
