Two decathletes from the Amherst College men's track and field team competed in the first day of the North Central Combined Events Qualifier on Monday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
Through 5 of 10 events, senior Troy Colleran sat in fourth place in the field of 10 with 3219 points and junior Jack Trent ranked ninth with 2443 points. Wheaton (Illinois) junior Isaiah Clausen led the event with 3539 points.
Colleran opened with a second-place finish in the 100m dash in 11.30 seconds while Trent recorded a personal-best time of 11.59. Trent was second in the shot put with a mark of 11.52m.
The Mammoths withdrew from the remainder of the competition. The team will be back in action on Thursday (May 19), attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships at the MIT Final Qualifier.
