Aidan Ryan Named USTFCCCA National Indoor DIII Scholar Athlete of the Year

Williams College senior distance runner Aidan Ryan was named the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Ryan, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.63 majoring in Physics, won the mile and placed runner-up in the 3000 meter at the 2022 NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships. This is the first time that an athlete from Williams has been named National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year for the indoor season.

Eph assistant cross country and track and field coach Dusty Lopez stated, "Several things stand out about Aidan. He loved this team and being around his teammates at practice and elsewhere, every day. And of course, he loves to run and has tremendous talent. I think the joy he brought to running and our group went a long way toward motivating him as he went through his career here.

"He's at the University of Washington already, enrolled the Master's in Intercollegiate Sports Leadership program, and he is going to use his remaining indoor and outdoor track eligibility. Unfortunately he's still getting back on track after the injuries that sidelined him at the end of his senior year here, but hopefully back on the roads soon."

Previously Ryan was named the USTFCCCA 2022 DIII Indoor National Athlete of the Year. This past indoor season Ryan set the NCAA DIII record in the mile, finishing in 3:56.88 and the 3,000 meters 7:54.48.
