Ephs Blank Clark University 8-0

Alix Barrale's Williams field hockey team ranked 14th nationally put on an offensive display and a defensive clinic in rolling up an 8-0 win over Clark University on the road.

The Ephs went up 1-0  just 1:18 into the contest when first year Kiki Higgins scored. Just over seven minutes later Shea Van den Broek scored to double the Eph lead.

The Ephs' 2-0 first quarter lead grew to 6-0 at the half as Van den Broek and Higgins each scored again and first years Pilar Torres and Natalia Nolan each tallied a goal.

The Eph defense was so tight in the first half that Eph senior goalie Carson Stephenson was not required to make a save.

The Eph third quarter goal was scored by junior Payton Ahola and the final Eph goal in the fourth quarter came from sophomore Kaela Smith.

Junior goalie Gates Tenerowicz played the second half and she made one save to preserve the shutout. Senior Faith Stineman led all players with two assist in the contest.

On the night the Ephs fired off 36 shots with 19 being on goal, while the Clark Cougars managed just three shots and only one on goal.

"Our overall play was excellent," said Eph head coach Alix Barrale. We passed well up and down the field and capitalized in the circle. Shea was stellar and Kiki Higgins had a goal and an assist in her collegiate debut. First years Pilar Torres had a goal as did Natalia Nolan. Payton Ahola and Kaela Smith each added a goal. In The second half. Our defense did a nice job shutting down Clark's attack."

Next up for the Ephs is another road contest and this one will be at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. on Saturday at 12:30 PM.
