Williams College (9-2-2) blanked Eastern Connecticut State University (5-5-3) with three goals to come out with a win in their senior day game.
Williams' goals came from sophomore Tori Huang, senior Maria Chapman, and first year Brianna Wright, all three scoring their first goals of the season. Huang started it in the 24th minute, heading a well-placed corner kick from senior Jaquelin Nordhoff off the top post and just across the goal line. In the 62nd, sophomore Parker Harnett centered the ball perfectly to Wright who took a strong shot past the diving Eastern Connecticut goalie for the second goal. Chapman finished the scoring drive in the 67th, working off a foul kick from Nordhoff and placed the ball perfectly through to the back left of the net.
The Ephs maintained possession of the ball for most of the game, keeping heavy pressure on Eastern Connecticut and allowing very little opportunity for them to be on the attack. Sophomore Kelly Beal and junior Shae Rashoff played aggressive and showed great ball control in midfield, both creating many chances for the Ephs attack.
Williams' offense took 27 total shots while their defense allowed Eastern Connecticut zero shots. The Ephs showcased their talent with great ball placement and efficient passes. Sophomore Indira Thodiyil was consistently strong in the back half, handling the ball well and sending smart passes up the field.
Eph head coach Sarah Raymond stated after the game, "What an incredible day on Cole! It was a whole team effort with every healthy player on our roster competing hard for this senior group. I loved that we played our game despite multiple line up changes. Every single player stepped in and picked up where their teammate left off. We created great scoring chances today and it was so good to see Brianna Wright find her first collegiate goal after coming so close numerous times, and our senior captain and leader of our defense, Maria Chapman, also score her first collegiate goal with a great finish. Our talented midfield duo, Tori and Jaquelin started the scoring with Tori heading in Jaq's driven corner. It was a fantastic way to celebrate this group of seven seniors who have led the team with distinction this year. While it's our last scheduled home game we are hopeful to be back in two weeks to host a NESCAC quarter \final."
The Ephs have two remaining regular season games, both versus NESCAC opponents. They will face Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. next Saturday and Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT the following Tuesday.
