No. 10 Williams Blanks No. 4 Trinity 2-0

First year Kiki Higgins got the eventual winning goal and senior Shea van den Broek secured the victory with a late one on her return to the field as the No. 10 Ephs (11-3, 6-3 NESCAC) blanked the No. 4 Bantams (11-3, 6-3 NESCAC) 2-0. With the win the Ephs have extended their current win streak to six, which includes wins over two teams ranked in the national top 10, and in the streak Williams has outscored the opposition 25-1

The Ephs took an early lead with the first shot of the game. First year Kiki Higgins with quick hand movement found herself clear of defenders and got a shot away. Scoring her sixth collegiate goal of her career at the 2:26 mark, the Ephs were up 1-0.

Each team managed to get one shot off in the second quarter and the Ephs got two more shots in the third quarter. With 50 seconds left to go in the game, Shea van den Broek with a keen eye gave the Ephs a 2-0 lead, securing the win.

Trinity was held to just 3 shots as the Williams defense was stellar in this crucial game. Williams out shot Trinity 7-3, with 5 of those shots on target for the Ephs. Each team was held to just one penalty corner.

"What a game! Both teams played outstandingly," said Eph head coach Alix Barrale after the big win. "It was a battle to the end. Great to have Shea back with her incredible eye for the goal. She gave us the security goal at the very end. Jacqui Sandor, Addie Sidles, Linda Bibeau shut down their top attackers allowing only one corner. Great win all around. Proud of our team!"

The Ephs look to take this momentum into their final regular season game against Middlebury College on Tuesday, October 25th, at 6:30 PM in Middlebury, Vt.
