A short and speedy morning session set the Ephwomen up well for finals tonight, highlighted by breaststroke duo Amanda Wager and Charlotte Wishnack both qualifying for the A final in the 100 breaststroke. This is the first event so far at this meet with 2 Ephs in the A final.

In the 200 butterfly, junior Samantha Kilcoyne placed 5th with a time of 2:02.21, over a second faster than this morning. She swam a smart and well split race, closing in a strong 32.09. This is her highest finish at the national level in this event. In the B final, junior Gabby Lopez-Ona placed 16th in her first NCAA final.

In the 100 breaststroke, the dynamic breaststroke duo of junior Amanda Wager and sophomore Charlotte Wishnack battled it out in the A final. After qualifying 3rd and 5th out of prelims, the training partners were in lanes beside each other for the final, and were neck and neck throughout the race. Wishnack narrowly pulled out the win, placing 5th with a new best time of 1:01.85, over a half second faster than her previous best. This is her highest finish at NCAAs. Wager was only .04 behind, placing 6th with a 1:01.89, right on her best time. The duo looks to make an even bigger impact tomorrow in the 200 breaststroke, their best event.

This morning on the boards, senior diver Emma Casey finished 25th on 1M, finishing in the same place as she did on 3M on Wednesday.

In the 800 freestyle relay, the team of Georgia Panitz, Lily Codd, Frances Hayward, and Sophia Verkleeren placed 9th with a time of 7:28.88. Panitz got the race off to an excellent start, splitting a speedy 1:51.10, just .03 off of her best time, and a few tenths faster than she went in the individual 200 freestyle on Thursday. Codd continued her excellent meet with a solid 1:53.33 split, just slightly off her split in this relay at the NESCAC championships. After a breakout swim in the 200 freestyle earlier in the meet solidified her place on this relay, Hayward put up a 1:53.37 split. Verkleeren closed in a speedy 1:51.08, chasing down the team from Johns Hopkins across the pool but ultimately was out touched by .02.

After a great night of racing, the Ephwomen remain 5th in a very tight team race, just 2 points behind NYU and only 2.5 points ahead of rival Tufts. The final day of competition kicks off tomorrow at 10am with the 100 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 400 freestyle relay, and 1650 freestyle.
