Sophomore Gabriele Lunardi of the Amherst College men's swimming and diving team finished 28th in the nation in the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday at the NCAA Division III Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
For the second day in a row at his first national championship meet, Lunardi set a personal best time, swimming the 200 free in 1:40.49, once again finishing well above his 37th seed.
Lunardi will be back in action on Saturday (March 18) for the final day of the NCAA Championships, competing in his signature race, the 1650-yard freestyle, an event in which he earned All-NESCAC honors this season. The longest event of the championship meet, the 1650 is conducted in a timed finals format with Lunardi's heat slated for the end of the 10 a.m. morning prelims session.
