It was a hot and windy day in Florida as the Ephs battled George Fox University at the Mission Inn Resort and Club. The one day in the Northeast v. Northwest match was played on the challenging and demanding El Campeón Course, which is also the host of this year's NCAA Championships on May 9th-12th. The team shot a team score of 324, +32, ultimately losing to the Bruins by 11 shots. The leading individual score of the match was 74, +1, shot by George Fox's Alison Takimiya and Makensie Toole.

Leading the team lineup scores were seniors Catalin Yturralde and Malini Rudra who both shot 79,+6. Yturralde had her lone birdie of the day on the tough par-3 8th. Rudra was strong with her iron game, allowing her to make many greens-in-regulation. Following the seniors was first-year Euna Lee, shooting an 80, +7. Lee went on fire on the back nine, scoring three birdies on holes 10, 11, and 17. Junior Tianyi Zhuang posted the next score of 82, +9. Zhuang started her round steady, making 4 key pars in a row on some of the course's toughest holes. First-years Jacqueline Lu and Victoria Kim rounded out the team score, both shooting 83s, +10. While V. Kim did not have any birdies in her round, she made 8 outstanding pars in a row on the first nine. Lu, like Lee, carded 3 birdies on the challenging holes 1, 13, and 14.

Sophomore Gio Kim followed with an 86, +13. Kim made incredible saves for par, such as her par on the par-4 6th from the fairway bunker. Junior Aishvarya Bedi rounded out the group with a 93, +20. While it was a struggle for Bedi on the course, she kept on her grind, making a birdie on the difficult par-5 17th.

Even through the loss, the team remains resilient. Great progress was shown on the course, and as the season heats up, the Ephs are looking to heat up as well.

Eph head coach Tomas Adalsteinsson comments, "It was great playing a competitive round at Mission Inn against a strong team like George Fox. It's early in the season, and we didn't play as well as we know we can. We will use the rest of spring break to practice and prepare for our next tournament."

The Ephs hope to return strong at their next event, the SUNY Cortland Invitational, on April 15th-16th.
