Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement marking one year since the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization:
“Making your own health decisions should be a basic right, yet a year ago, fueled by Republican extremism, millions lost that right. Now, nearly a third of states have banned access to safe health care, and deepened the catastrophic medical and economic impacts of Republicans’ war on women.
“While Democrats have stood up time and time again to defend women’s health care decisions, Republicans are threatening to pass a national abortion ban that would criminalize access to medical care no matter where you live. We must not accept these attacks on our rights – we will continue to organize and fight. House Democrats won’t stop until we enshrine these constitutional rights into law and stop Republican extremism in its tracks.”
