The ratio of students to teachers in North Adams Public Schools District rose by 3% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,257 students being taught by 121.1 teachers in North Adams Public Schools District, which covers schools within Berkshire County and has a main office in North Adams. That's an average of 10.4 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, North Adams Public Schools District had 1,223 students and 121.5 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
