Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter District’s student-to-teacher ratio remained unchanged in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter District remained unchanged in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 572 students being taught by 72 teachers in Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter District, which covers schools within Hampshire County and has a main office in Hadley. That's an average of 7.9 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter District had 560 students and 70.6 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
