The ratio of students to teachers in Gill-Montague Regional School District fell by 6.6% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 845 students being taught by 85.5 teachers in Gill-Montague Regional School District, which covers schools within Franklin County and has a main office in Turners Falls. That's an average of 9.9 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Gill-Montague Regional School District had 846 students and 80.1 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
