Student-to-teacher ratio in Hawlemont Regional School District rose in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Hawlemont Regional School District rose by 13.9% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 123 students being taught by 9.4 teachers in Hawlemont Regional School District, which covers schools within Franklin County and has a main office in Shelburne Falls. That's an average of 13.1 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Hawlemont Regional School District had 118 students and 10.3 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.
