New Salem-Wendell Regional School District reports increase in student enrollment in 2022-23 school year

There were 131 students enrolled in New Salem-Wendell Regional School District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.8% more than the year before, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.1% identified as male and 48.9% identified themselves as female.

New Salem-Wendell Regional School District registered the 375th-largest enrollment in the state.

New Salem-Wendell Regional School District roughly covers a school within Franklin County, and has a main office in Erving.

Students in Massachusetts are predominantly white, making up 53% of the student population in the state. Hispanic students come in second, representing over 25% of Massachusetts' student body.

However, across the state, Hispanic and Native American students suffered the highest high school dropout rates.

Under representation is also found among educators in Massachusetts. The Rennie Center reported that only 9% of teachers are people of color.
