Later that day, he commented on Federal Reserve independence in response to actions by the President: "It’s called Federal Reserve independence, Mr. President. You don’t call the shots."
On January 24, 2025, Neal reflected on infrastructure achievements under President Biden while criticizing former President Trump's policies: "We did rebuild our infrastructure and we did put millions to work...under President Biden. It was the largest investment in our nation's infrastructure in more than six decades. Now, President Trump has ceased all funding from the BIPARTISAN Infrastructure Law."
