Ella Faessler and Amelia Tye from the tennis team, along with Kassidy Morris from women’s lacrosse, were named UMass Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by UMassFive College Credit Union, according to a March 24 announcement. The three athletes will be honored at the UMass Sports Luncheon scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, at noon in the Berkshire Room of the Berkshire Dining Commons.

The recognition highlights recent athletic successes across both sports. Faessler went undefeated in singles matches last week, securing victories against Miami (OH) and Ball State at No. 1 singles. She also partnered with Renata Farima in doubles play to earn a win over Miami (OH). Tye contributed two singles wins at the No. 2 position and competed alongside Amanda de Oliveira in doubles competition.

On the lacrosse field, Morris delivered a standout performance by tying her career-high with seven goals during a decisive victory over Central Michigan. All seven goals were scored within just over half an hour of play before she exited with her team leading comfortably. This effort marks her third consecutive game with seven or more points and brings her career total to 207 goals—just four shy of tying and five away from breaking UMass’ program record.

The weekly honors recognize individual excellence as well as contributions to team success during recent competitions. Both tennis players helped secure narrow wins against their opponents while Morris’s scoring continues to place her among national leaders this season.

As these athletes are celebrated at this week’s luncheon event on campus, their performances reflect ongoing strength within UMass athletics.
