UMass field hockey players receive academic honors from national coaches association

The University of Massachusetts field hockey team has received academic honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). This week, 23 players from the Minutewomen were named to the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. Of those, 10 student-athletes also earned recognition as Scholars of Distinction.

The NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad acknowledges student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester. The nominations are made by their coaches who are members of the NFHCA. In addition, the Scholars of Distinction program recognizes undergraduate athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher for the same period.

The following UMass student-athletes were named to the NFHCA Division I Academic Squad: Emily Barrett, Gabrielle Benkenstein, Megan Carpenter, Alexa Collins, Colleen Conlan, Amy Cornfield, Anna Cowan, Neva Eisenga, Cara Falconer, Isabella Geoghegan, Macarena Gonzalez del Pino Guerci, Savanna Henderson, Jenna Herbster, Myrte Herwijen, Fiene Jenniskens, Katelyn Kearns, Sophie Kent, Lina Kroger, Isabelle Larimore, Kristy Leonard, Sophia Ponzini, Elani Sherwood and Mia Smith.

The ten Minutewomen recognized as NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction are Emily Barrett, Megan Carpenter, Cara Falconer, Savanna Henderson, Myrte Herwijen, Sophie Kent, Lina Kroger, Sophia Ponzini, Elani Sherwood and Mia Smith.
