University of Massachusetts hockey goaltender Michael Hrabal has been named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for February, according to an announcement from the league on Wednesday. This is Hrabal’s second monthly honor this season; he was previously recognized as the Hockey East Player of the Month in January.
During February, Hrabal recorded 226 saves out of 239 shots, achieving a .946 save percentage and a goals-against average of 1.85. His record for the month was four wins, two losses, and one tie, including one shutout performance. He made over 30 saves in four out of seven games played that month.
Hrabal finished February with a career-high 50 saves in a 3-3 tie against UConn and stopped six out of seven attempts during the shootout following that game. In another notable performance, he made 21 saves in a shutout win over New Hampshire and allowed two goals or fewer in five out of his seven appearances.
He ranked third nationally and first among all goaltenders in Hockey East for save percentage during February.
