The University of Massachusetts men’s track and field team competed at the UConn Dog Fight on April 4 at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex in Storrs, Connecticut.
The event featured strong performances from several Minutemen athletes as they continued their outdoor season. Matthew Acquah won the men’s triple jump with a leap of 49 feet, 6.5 inches, while Collin Catherwood took first place in the men’s 1500 meters with a time of 3:45.40. Godot Gaskins also claimed victory in the men’s 200-meter dash, finishing in 21.66 seconds.
Other notable results included Hunter Camara’s fifth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 190 feet, six inches, and Owen Stevens placing seventh in the long jump at just under 22 feet. In high jump competition, Aidan Lee finished eighth and Tory Stuckey ninth after both cleared heights over six feet.
In relay events, Jason Dejesus, Adithya Hari, Winston Lewis and Godot Gaskins combined for fifth place in the women’s 4×100 meter relay with a time of 41.02 seconds—a result listed under women’s but featuring male athletes—and Gaskins joined Michael Sanchez, Chris Scalia and Noah Mulligan to secure second place in the men’s 4×400 meter relay at 3:22.15.
The Minutemen will continue their season next week when they compete at both the Friar Invitational on April 10 in Providence and host their own UMass Commonwealth Invitational on April 11.
