UMass rowing team wins two races at Lake Quinsigamond

The Massachusetts rowing team competed against Boston College, Connecticut, Holy Cross, MIT and Sacred Heart on April 18 at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Massachusetts. The event included multiple races with strong performances from the UMass crews.

The results matter for the team’s competitive standing as they prepare for upcoming regattas. In Saturday morning’s racing, the UMass Varsity 8 finished first with a time of 6:29.5, while the Second Varsity 4 also won its race in 7:35.6. The Second Varsity 8 secured second place with a time of 6:53.0 and the Varsity 4 placed third at 7:33.9.

UMass additionally entered two boats in the Third Varsity 8 category during this round of competition.

The team is scheduled to return to Lake Quinsigamond for further racing as part of the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 3.

According to UMassAthletics.com, these results reflect continued efforts by the Massachusetts rowing program as it moves through its spring schedule.
