Senior forward Matt Cence of the University of Massachusetts men’s soccer team has been named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Second Team, according to an announcement made by the organization on Tuesday. Cence is one of seven Summit League players selected for the All-West Region Team and one of three to receive Second Team honors.
Cence, who was also recognized as a 2025 Summit League First Team All-League member, started in 15 out of 17 games this season for the Minutemen. Over the course of the season, he played 1,420 minutes and recorded 16 points with five goals and a team-leading six assists. He led his team in shots taken (46) and shots on goal (20). In league rankings, Cence placed tenth in goals scored, third in assists, sixth in total points, and fourth in both total shots and shots on goal.
In addition to his athletic performance, Cence was selected for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and advanced to consideration for the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
