UMass women’s tennis earns fourth straight win with sweep over Hofstra

The University of Massachusetts women’s tennis team secured its fourth consecutive victory with a 7-0 win over Hofstra on Sunday at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center in Amherst. The result brings the Minutewomen’s season record to 6-1.

UMass started strong by winning all three doubles matches. Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye defeated Isabella Cardinal and Sabira Mohamed 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Ella Faessler and Renata Farima won their match against Aryanah Kahnamoui and Aida Oviedo 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich took a 6-4 win over Katarina Drinchich and Ava Veneziano at No. 3.

In singles play, UMass continued its success across all six courts. Markevica was first to finish, beating Bohdana Bilokon 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. Tye followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mohamed at the top spot. Faessler clinched her match against Oviedo with a score of 7-5, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.

Pavissich added another point for UMass by defeating Kahnamoui 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, while Fiona Ao posted a convincing win over Veneziano (6-0, 6-1) on court five. De Oliveira closed out the sweep by overcoming Cardinal with a score of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

UMass will take a week off before returning to face Stony Brook on Friday, February 27 at the Bay Road Indoor Tennis Center.
