Student-to-teacher ratio in Belchertown Public Schools District fell in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Belchertown Public Schools District fell by 3.9% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 2,131 students being taught by 172.6 teachers in Belchertown Public Schools District, which covers schools within Hampshire County and has a main office in Belchertown. That's an average of 12.3 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Belchertown Public Schools District had 2,149 students and 167.4 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
