The ratio of students to teachers in South Hadley Public Schools District fell by 4.8% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,763 students being taught by 148.9 teachers in South Hadley Public Schools District, which covers schools within Hampshire County and has a main office in South Hadley. That's an average of 11.8 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, South Hadley Public Schools District had 1,763 students and 142 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
