Student-to-teacher ratio in Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public District fell in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public District fell by 2.1% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 400 students being taught by 43 teachers in Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public District, which covers schools within Hampshire County and has a main office in South Hadley. That's an average of 9.3 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public District had 391 students and 41.3 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.
