The ratio of students to teachers in Frontier Regional School District fell by 4.9% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 610 students being taught by 52.3 teachers in Frontier Regional School District, which covers schools within Franklin County and has a main office in South Deerfield. That's an average of 11.7 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Frontier Regional School District had 649 students and 52.6 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
