Gateway Regional School District’s student-to-teacher ratio fell by 10% in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Gateway Regional School District fell by 10% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 733 students being taught by 81.5 teachers in Gateway Regional School District, which covers schools within Hampshire County and has a main office in Huntington. That's an average of nine students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Gateway Regional School District had 753 students and 75.2 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
