Belchertown Public Schools District: How many students failed the English test in 2021-22 school year?

Of the 947 students who took part in the MCAS, 61% did not meet the testing standard in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

These students did not meet the required standards of the English Language Arts portion of the MCAS, compared to the 39% who did.

The number of Belchertown Public Schools District students who failed their English Language Arts assessments rose by 18.1% from the previous school year.

Belchertown Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Hampshire County and has a main office in Belchertown.

In the 2021-22 school year, 400,101 students took the English Language Arts test in Massachusetts with 61% students failing, 10.1% more than the year before.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's 2022 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), the average scale score for grade 10 English Language Arts was 503, which met the expectation level, while the average scale score for grade 10 Science was 499, which only partially met the expectation level.

Massachusetts ranks 5th in the ranking of the best and worst public schools from Scholaroo. School systems were evaluated on three factors — student achievement, student safety, and the quality of school education.
