Hancock Public Schools: White students were most represented ethnicity in 2022-23 school year

White was the most represented ethnicity among Hancock Public Schools students in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

In total, there were 49 white students enrolled, accounting for 84.7% of the district's student body.

The number of white students attending schools in the district decreased 3.9% from the previous school year.

Meanwhile, Black or African American, Asian, and multiracial students were the least represented ethnic group within the schools in Hancock Public Schools.

Hancock Public Schools roughly covers schools within Berkshire County, and has a main office in HANCOCK.

The total number of students attending the district’s schools grew to 59 over the 2022-23 school year.

Students in Massachusetts are predominantly white, according to state data from 2023-24, representing 53% of the state's student body.

Across the state, Hispanic and Latino students saw the highest high school dropout rates.

Under representation is also found among educators in Massachusetts. The Rennie Center reported that only 7.8% of teachers identified as people of color in 2022.
